We are very pleased to bring micro-lots to our menu of offerings. We realize that this might be a new concept for some of our consumers, so we wanted to take the time to address what we call a 'microlot' and why we are trying to promote it, not just for us but for the coffee industry in general.
At the core of our business we focus on two things: sourcing and roasting coffee. We have long stressed that it is in our best interest as a small business people and caring ecologists to seek out, cultivate and promote the highest quality possible.
Since we opened our doors on day one, we have been working in partnership with the two most important ends of the 1000faces spectrum: the grower and the customer. For it is this partnership, that is at the foundation for real economic sustainability for not just us, but all parties involved.
In this pursuit to find great quality coffee for the benefit of coffee drinkers, we have never overlooked the potential for how much this is for benefit of coffee growers alike. Be it through communication alone and the act of 100% transperancy, we are setting a standard with shared information be it, though our tasting notes and technological assitance to our grower partners. We are in the business of empowering growers so that they might exercise greater control over their premium product.
Whereas in the past, information in the coffee industry was a secret, we now see information as a source for understanding the broader market.
Whether it be how to enter a Cup of Excellence Competition or where the best deals are on new processing equipment for green beans or how many new birds appeared in their growing area as a result of their shade grown practices, 1000faces can help growers sustain and improve quality in all areas: of life, of the environment, and in the cup.
Microlots are small lots of special coffees that 1000faces selects to provide the best taste experiences to the consumer and to recognize coffee growers that produce extraordinary quality. A microlot may come from one small farm within a community or co-operative of small growers; or a microlot may represent a small section of the farm separated from a entire yield in a particular harvest. As this is a new undertaking for us, we will continue to update this page and provide information to you as to what we are doing. Our hope is that in the years to come, we can continue to grow this area of our business to get farmers more money and provide consumers with a richer coffee drinking experience.
