The Cafetalera Herbazu rests halfway up the mountain on the way to Lourdes de Naranjo, located in the West Valley region of Costa Rica, and boasts some of the most spectacular coffee we have ever tasted. It also boasts one of the most spectacular views to be found in that part of the world. With such a beautiful farm, it is only fitting that the coffee be nothing short of exceptional. The extremely hospitable Sr. Manuel Barrantes and his 11 brothers cultivate a variety of coffee known as Villasarchi, a dwarf hybrid of heirloom Bourbon coffee known for producing exceptionally sweet coffee at high altitudes. The combination of good cultivation and meticulous processing at their very own on site micro mill produces a coffee laden with notes of ripe tangerine, sweet riesling acidity, caramel, and flor de cafe. We hope you enjoy this coffee as much as we have enjoyed procuring it.
