This coffee was awarded a silver medal at the 2016 Compak Golden Bean North America Coffee Roasters Competition.

This beautiful Ethiopian offering comes to us via a connection made with Yisehak Awel of Lean Coffee. Working with his brother’s exporting company, Adulina, he has started bringing a handful of exciting lots into the United States. We’ve chosen a double name to represent the coffee: combining both the growing sub-region, Guji, and the washing station from which it was processed, Jet.  Guji, part of the larger region of Sidama, is unique in the fact that most farmers still practice garden coffee production.  This particular style involves planting trees at low densities close to families' homes.  After picking, it is taken to Jet,  fermented in cement tanks for 24 hours, and dried in the sun on raised beds for another 48 hours. The final stop before being prepped for export is a trip to Adulina’s mill in Addis for more intensive hand sorting. Guji Jet is remarkably clean and balanced, highlighting the producers’ attention to detail. Everything about this coffee is soft, delicate, and pleasing. Imagine a cup of jasmine green tea sweetened with a small spoonful of honey. Delicious.
